Andy - My 3G paired immediately with my 05 545 just curious to know how many contacts you have on your 3G and how long it took. I waited 5 min which may not be sufficient!

Ben - How many contacts on your 3G. I took Andys advice and re paired it before I left for the house. The drive is about 25mins and still no signs of contacts.

still no luck on my end! The 3G iPhone pairs with the car but the iPod integration in the glove box has been rendered useless. I had to purchase a new charger for the phone and can't sync the contacts. Tried numerous times during drives that were over an hour and still nothing. I have to dial using the phone and all my voice dialing functions are gone. spoke to my SA and he says the 3G iPhone is too new to speak of any solutions. I guess that's what I get for being a gadget freak and upgrading my old iPhone that worked perfectly for the latest and greatest.

I had about 150 contacts. I spoke to my dealer yesterday who wasnt very helpful about it but then again I didnt have much time to really question him.

Sorry to hear about your problems guys. Makes me feel kinda lucky that I've had no problems with either my 2G iPhone (even on 2.0 software) and also my new 3G iPhone. Just to help you with your validation though, my car is an Aug 07 build 535d. It has also had the TCU replaced in May (I think) due to the SOS problem so my TCU is going to be pretty new too. I was advised at the time that the cars software is v29.2 although v30 was out at the time???

Bit annoyed that Apple have changed the profile of the back of the phone to be honest as the 3G phone no longer fits in the desk cradle that came with 2G phone and I was just about to order the BMW cradle which obviously doesn't fit also now. Tis a real pain as the cradle is going to be even more necessary now as 3G eats the battery. I've even resorted to disabling the 3G on my new 3G iPhone most of the time because of it. I just enable it if I need to use the web.

Hope you get a resolution either through software updates to the car or apple, hopefully it's not a TCU incompatibility.

Also, regarding those that have had to start saying the voice commands in last name first name order, I don't appear to have this problem with my setup? Do you think you might need to change the display order on the phone prioir to pairing with the car (ie delete phone from car, set the appropriate display order on the phone, repair phone with car which would re-import the contacts?)

I have an '07 550 and my 3G iPhone and contacts pairs up fine with only one exception. If a contact has multiple phone types (i.e., mobile, home, etc.) it will only display the first entry.

Hi Just wanna tell It works fine for me my car is 2004 525i, and I upgraded the car 2 years ago but I dont remember wich uppdates.. i have the new iphone 3G 16 MB Have fun!

First of all, congratulation to you. For it works, does it mean that you can sync phonebook and charge your iphone 3G. May I know whether you are using the cable in glove box or crandle near handbrake or elsewhere?

I have a 2g Iphone with v2.0 firmware in a 05 530d, the cip is 1 week old so I guess it's the latest one.
With the 2.0 firmware my phone connects and disconnects every minute.
With the 1.1.4 firmware my phone sync alright, but unable to transfer sound through the car.

Have yet to try firmware 1.1.2 which seems to be the supported version from bmw?
