Hmm weird my iPhone 3G works perfectly with my UK 2005 525i. I paired the device and the phone book sync took ages but everytime i get back in the car it reconnects fine and is available for use.

Can you tell me more about your car....What options do you have, when was your car software last updated and have you ever had the TCU changed ?

Its a 2005 (55 plate) 525i M Sport with the media pack, leather and auto box options as far as I know. I have no idea about when it was last updated! whats the easiest way to check. I'm not sure if the TCU has been changed but there is no mention of it on any of the paperwork with the car.

Did you buy it from a BMW Dealer ?
There's not easy way to tell unfortunately other than the dealer plugging the machines in.

I guess that means there a chance your software has been updated recently.
That gives me some hope then that after my planned update the iPhone might work

If the car has always been with them they should have a record of the last time it was updated but they might not have a note of the version it was updated too.
If the car has been to other dealers then we may never know unless you called them too.

Dear Andy,
Would you mnd to tell me whether you are able to charge your iphone 3G in your 525i please? As others said iphone 3G can't be charged due to disabled of firewire power. It is because I'm going to order the telephone kit for iphone from BMW soon.
