Get her a 2009 X5 4.8i Sport with 20's. The 7 is a boat.

While I agree the 7 is too big for my tastes, but it's her choice and it's what she wants (I just pay for it).

Well I dunno... While the 7 is big, it drives well despite its length.

+1 very smooth and VERY quiet. She hasn't driven it yet (she HATES test drives), but I have and I am very impressed with the smoothness, still too large a car for my tastes.

You can find GREAT deals on 7 series! 7 series cars are considered "the kiss of death" among car dealers

Why? Any really bad known issues I need to look out for, oh grand master of the used car auctions (good luck with the new venture, BTW)

Thanks! They are solid cars with not a lot of issues, but for some reason they just don't sell... I have no clue why...

he is a computer guy, not a rapper or a drug dealer.
It was my extreme humor ... never intended to be "serious" ... the "7" can be a great buy in this economy but absolutely only buy one that has original warranty or is CPO'ed. They seemed to have improved reliability but post warranty repairs are very very expensive.

And, as a "mom-mobile" your crew will get stares of admiration and wonderment . But, shopping mall dings will make you cry!

I have 2 dings on my 5er and they really pissed me off. As for the 7? I would only get one CPO or with remaining warranty (I know how much it will be to fix, eeesh). I have found a couple few everything she wants (NAV, bluetooth, iPod, vented seats) that are reasonable priced and 2 of them actually have the rear seat DVD too - THAT would be a bonus. Her Subie has a backup camera, but I don't think the 7er comes with one, anyone else know?

I say get the 7. I came out of a 5er into my 7 and have not looked back. Yes it is a big car ut does not drive like one. It has impecible road manors. The milage I get out of mine is great. I am getting mid to upper 20's I commute 70 miles a day. my wifes mdx I bought her is not even close. In fact since I am on bed rest she has been driving my car and leaving the mdx in the garage.

I am keeping my 5er, but we are gtting rid of the Subie (16 MPG is too low). My wife doesn't want to sacrifice space, safety, or comfort, but she wants better fuel economy. She commutes about 60 miles a day and right now she needs to fill up about every 3 days (way too often), which is horrible considering I commute about the same, but my 5 will go nearly 2 weeks on a tank.
