I think NM is referring to the lines on the rev counter that move as the engine warms up. When the Engine is cold you have extra white lines before the red to show the recommended rev limit. As the engine warms these lines slowly disappear thus raising the rev limit. I like this feature.

Never noticed anything before. Just been out to have a look. Do you mean the edge of the rev counter similar to the edge of the speedo where the cruise control bug sits?

did u put the keys in the ignition and start the car? basically on the rev counter nr the limit is a red block indicating start of red line...keep your eye on that....once you have the key in position 2 or start it you should see some white bars appear, these bars reduce in number as the engine warms up.

Yes put the keys in now and seen it - only got 6 lines but car is still warm from my brothers earlier thrash. Its on a disc type setup. What revs does it come round to when totally cold?

Merv, maybe you should add this to your signature Shall we put it down to your temporary loss os sanity induced by denial of those big wheels when you collected your new car? Don't know how we are going to explain the fact you missed it in over a year of driving your previous 530d though

Yes I know what a 100% tw*t I am But then thinking about it I have now got a new feature to enjoy. I'll probably find a cd player in the glovebox and a set of tools in the boot next! but I doubt it
