645 SMG Retrofit (for the poor people)
umm don't really know what you mean by "lead wires".
The way it works is that when either of the 2 middle wires by the shifter gets a ground signal (See pic), it shifts either up or down. Basically what i did was use 2 push buttons that have 2 connectors at the end. 1 wire from each button goes to the coil spring. That then comes out at the other end of the coil spring and goes to the 2 middle wires (brown=shift down, blue=shift up) on the connector where the shift knob is (see pic again). The other wire from each button goes to a ground wire in the steering wheel. I used red/white on the left multifunction connector for the ground of the left button and red/black for the right multifunction connector for the ground on the right button. So when you push either button, the circuit completes and a ground signal is given to the wire where the shifter is(see pic) that then causes the gears to shift up or down. If you don't have a heated steering wheel it's pretty simple but if you do, then it becomes more tricky.
Hope this helped and makes sense. Once i get a hold of a coilspring without heated steering wheel i'll post a detailed DIY. Also, right now i am tapping into wires and soldered some components. On monday i am ordering the proper connectors to make it truly a plug n play deal
This did take a lot of time and endless days of studying wiring diagrams, not to mention the first coil spring i had so sacrifice to get it right so if you find this thread helpful in any way, donations via paypal to paddleshiftproject@hotmail.com are very appreciated!
As I said, anyone wanting to get this mod, send me your steering wheel and coil spring and i'll do a detailed DIY
Unfortunately, at the end of this project i just wanted to get my ride back together and in the process didn't focus on taking pics
Also, I wanted to mention again that any DIY instructions including all pictures posted by me at this point are intellectual property of myself aka www.aftermarketbulbsshop.com and www.E60.net Reposting this information in other forums especially bimmerfest will not be tolerated. If you want to check it out, come to www.e60.net or post a link to this thread on other forums! A full detailed DIY will be up shortly.

I hope all is well with you.
1. So the switch is just a normal 2 wire switch that closes the circuit?
2. I will just connect one end of the switch wires to ground and the other end to the blue wire for up shift in the middle of the tranny. I will repeat the same procedure for the second switch, except that I will connect this end to the brown wire. Is this correct?
3. Is the blue and brown wire easy to find?
4. So I can buy an M5 steering wheel with paddles and reconfigure it to gice ground signal to the blue and brown wires?
Hope to hear from you soon...Thanks for sharing this so a lot of people don't need to buy some modules to make their paddle shifter work. More power

yeah man, you got it. However, when you use the M5 wheel and you want the + and - to light up you have to use additional wires as well to route the lighting to the pedals
I ordered the plugs today and hopefully they will all come in soon.
I'll also offer the kit with a couple options for sale since a couple people already asked.
Kit with steering wheel (M5, 645, 650, M6)
Kit with buttons to install on original wheel
Or just the wiring if someone wants to do most of the work themselves
all will be plug and play no matter which option you choose
Once I get the plugs and everything looking decent i'll try to post a DIY but ideally i'd need another coil spring to do it on as i didn't take much pics

yeah but that's bc the harness in the steering wheel was pre-modded probably
Time to work on the LED blinkers for the front Schulrog... I don't have any time these days to tinker and my led lights have been in the box for months
