Where Is It Now? BMW 735i Touring Prototype

This rare 1980 BMW 735i Touring prototype — originally shown at the Frankfurt Auto Show — was here in the States for a number of years, spending most of that time in New England. But since then, it has all but vanished. The most recent news available on it is a listing for the car that’s over half a decade old, from late 2010.

Back to the car itself; it’s quite an interesting mix of BMW parts. E10 tail lights are used in place of the standard issue 7-series lights, and overall it looks like a production-ready model.

The condition of the car looks a bit aged in these pictures, though. If I’m not mistaken, I do see a spot of rust, and the paint can certainly use some help. Living out New England winters have most likely been the cause of that. Speaking of having it shiny and new, the only additional information I have uncovered to this car’s whereabouts is an old comment on a video of the car, saying it was sold to a guy in Switzerland who’d spruced it up a bit.

Who’s to know if it’s still there? Anyone?
