'America's Fastest' G82 M4 Gets Some Love at SEMA

BMW M4 Competition is here for one purpose, be the fastest G8x platform car in North America.

At SEMA, speed comes in two very distinct categories. At least when it comes to paved surfaces. There’s the cars that are good at one thing, like accelerating, or turning left, and then there’s the cars that have to be good at everything. Road course racers. This BMW M4 Competition is built by Art of Attack, and solidly lands itself in the road racer category.

BMW’s G82 platform is still relatively new, and companies have been quick to support it. Art of Attack plans to take that support, sift through the aftermarket for the best components, and build North America’s fastest G82 time attack racer. SPL parts make up a large majority of the suspension, making up all the the arms, rods links, bars, and ends. KW suspension controls how much movement those SPL parts have to work with.

Tires, as one would expect, are massive. 305/35/19 tires are located up front and the rear end squeezes 325/30-19 oodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires in the rear fenders. Naturally the fenders have flares in order to accommodate the extra stickiness. Other body modifications include a splitter, endplates and a wing from RS Future.

As far as the engine goes, it’s the standard unit you’ll find in the M4. ECUTEK engine management is tuned by CSG in order to run E85. Air on the way into the engine is controlled by an Eventuri carbon intake system. Studio RSR downpipes leading Akrapovic exhaust guide the gases out. Horsepower specs aren’t specifically stated, but most tuning companies can usually eke out about 600 or so horsepower from these cars.

Combined with the stripped out interior, you get a maximized horsepower to weight ratio. Pretty much all that’s left of the inside is the dashboard and shifter console. No more creature comforts for this car. With a cage and racing seat for added safety, Art of Attack’s goal with this SEMA show car are very clear. According to their website, they’ve been able to nab a record at Buttonwillow. Art of Attack’s G8x record of 1:49 is for the CW13 configuration, and is ready for the next challenger.
