For E39/E60/E65/E63 and similar applications, you don't need a resistor.


For LCI/H8 applications, you will need a resistor.


For E90 Applications, you do not need a resistor.


Also, if you are looking for the "brightest" unit, it is still the Orion V2 - but that does require you to cut your headlights open.

Only the Orion v2 will work on that.
