Hi,

I just replaced front brake pads.
Before resetting, I had 10000 miles left, but after resetting front brake pad, I am getting -9000 miles??? now I have brake lights on when I start the engine and it resumes it and also idrive says brake pads are low or torned, contact nearest BMW dealer.
How can I reset without "-" on it?

I did reset many times after changing oil and it was working fine. I am bit frustrated now.

can anyone can help me?

thanks in advance.

did you check the rear pads incase they were worn?
the -9000 is kinda funny though.

Double check that you replaced the sensor and that the sensor is connected.

If you did, just try resetting again. It took mine 2-3 tries for some reason. I feel like I changed my process from holding the reset button when it asked to just pressing it or maybe pressing it twice.

If you have the old sensor you will not be able to reset without getting the brake light and -9000 miles.

I replaced both front and read pads, but didn't reset rear yet..
pads didn't worn out prior to any replacement, also I made sure that old pads didn't touch sensors at all.

I did reset more than 10 times.. and still seeing -9000 miles with brake light on.
Possible defective sensor?

If the wear sensor is still intact, why would you need to change it?

I am having that same problem right now. Prior to replacing new BMW Genuine OEM front brake pads and sensor, I had 9,000 miles left. Now, no matter how many times I try to reset it, I can not get ride of the -9000...

Three months ago, I did the back with BMW Genuine OEM rotors without any problems. This time, I decided to keep the old rotors because they don't look too worn out. Could this be the problem why I can not reset my front brake sensor? How did you or anyone fixed such a problem???

Thank you in advance.

Default Will this procedure work?

Regarding to my previous post, can anyone tell me if this procedure will work?

1. Cut off the sensor portion" of the "old sensor".

2. Strip the two wires (of the old sensor) and twist them together to "create a short" to mimick the reading a new sensor would give.

3. Plug in the "old sensor" to the socket connection of the car (not the brake pad) and do the brake reset procedure to get the appropriate mileage restored.

4. Plug in the "new sensor" to "the brake pad" and connect its "socket connection to the car; after disconnecting the old sensor from it.

FYI: My reason for attempting this procedure is because I currently have ownership of three sensors (original from old brake pads, new OEM and new BMW Genuine OEM factory sensor (green connector with bmw logo). The traditional replace and reset procedure is not working!
