i was using a subwoofer box which was smaller than the boot and it wasnt custom, it slided around everywhere. i tried to bolt it down with brackets, it still came off!

so i went to a custom car audio specialist, they quoted me $300 on a custom made box and the order would take atleast 2 weeks and i would have to leave my car for a full day for measurements. i thought, ridiculous! so there must be something i can do?

i went to the hardware store and spent $50 on material.

this first bit here is building the box
the box is glued first with a sealant adhesive then is screwed together

i used cardboard to work out the profile of the trunk

i cutted the shape according to the cardboard (but refined) using a circular saw

here its all screwed together with self-tapping screws

i have found a plate in the kitchen which is at the perfect size!

made a hole before using the jigsaw to cut out the speakerholes

getting closer

i made a few layers of spray adhesive and left it tacky before applying the carpet on

the spray might not hold the edges pernamently so i decided to screw it down

now its time to fit these puppies in

the fitting is tight, it is rigid and stiff.
the sound quality is quite good too!

My Ride: I have an 05 545i. It's a manual with a few options. This is my first BMW but I don't know how I'll ever be able to switch to something else.

Great job, very clean install!

How'd you wire up the amp to the subs? I've been missing the thump in my truck and want to do this as well but I don't even know where to start with this Logic7 sound system, it's more complicated than previous systems i've worked with.

i tapped the signals from the rear speakers. and wired it to the battery which is directly in the trunk. abit of crimping, soldering and heat shrinking makes it look more pro

Nice, thanks for the tip boris, I might just have to bump this up on my to-do list. That's alot easier than I had pictured it would've been.

What kind of amp are you running with those xDs?

Good job!

It's also a good way to not have to spend money on coilovers to lower your car.
