Thumbs up

Hello,

Is it possible to retrofit the OEM front heated seats (including the ability to control the bottom/back heating amounts from the iDrive interface)?

Thanks!

Possible but of course they are not OEM anymore, nor the seats.

The wirering is there (on all BMW's) but is it worth it - I do not think so.

Buy the heather units and rip the leather seats, install the units,
re-stitch the seats and re-programm the iDrive, its done.

I don't think it would be possible, if the seat are anything like the MINI's seats. My wife had a custom leather interior fitted to her MINI and when they took the original BMW leather off the seats, the heating elements were glued to the back of the leather in a foam backing. It was impossible to remove the heating element without damaging it hence she doesn't have heated seats anymore.

Thanks for the input. I have installed aftermarket heated seats on cars before, so I'm used to working w/ upholstery, but I'm more concerned w/ the wiring and the iDrive integration w/ it.

fitting the original (?) heaters is not the problem; I had it done in one of my previous 5-ers
I doubt though if you can control them in the Idrive menu, let alone adjust the balance: my opinion: put it out of your head (to give you an example of were a thing like this can lead to: they are trying now for over a month to install the oem bluetooth interface in my wife's 1998 e39, sofar without succes, but, uptill now, a 2000 dollar bill)
