Hi Guys, a newbie so please dont get too upset..i have an 04 E60 525i a single disc slot with 6 cdc.i bought a dension gateway today and attempted to install it, 30 mins later it was working fine but i can seem to select albums or go through my ipod. i can only select albums from the ipod and secondly cdc is not working or do i need to change the switch before i can use it........Thanks please help.....

I've been doing some research on the Dension unit and finally reached out to Dension. My car was manufactured in November 2003. Here is Dension's reply:

"Yes, the mentioned car is compatible with our Gateway 500 device. But please check the car details for sure. If its older than 2005/03 unfortunately in this case the system of the car is eligible to display text only if the car originally equipped with 8.8"" screen with prof. nav. system.

In any other cases the hardware and the software of the car are not able to do this, but these systems are also compatible the Gateway 500 but without the text feature. If your car was made after 2005/03 or have the mentioned requirement system than you could display the music texts and also the menu of the gateway without any problem.

Please also note you have to contact with your BMW dealer and ask him to code the iPod retrofit (K-MP3) into the software of your car. (if the car doesn't support the K-MP3 you could use the gateway as a normal CD-Changer but only without text feature, so you should enable the CD-Changer option in the software of the car.)"

So, if I understand all this correctly. I can install the unit and use my ipod/iphone but will have to control the music from the ipod/iphone as the text will not display on the Idrive screen.
