Go 19" with 245/19/40 in front and 275/19/35 in rear.. Staggered look, fills out wheel well without lowering car, retain stock suspension and have better road compliance/softer ride. Worked for me... Sorry for shitty cell phone pics elsewhere in this thread

I think a 33 would work on the rear, but would require a mild fender roll and/or stretched tire. See my post above for the pic shot looking down at the fender. ET33 would be 7mm (0.27 inches) inward.

n00b question - will 225/55/17 on 8 inch ET30 rims work for an xi without rubbing? The overall diameter is same as norsecarnut's wagon, but his rims are wider and he seems to get a tiny bit of rubbing.
EDIT: no sports suspension.

Now that I think about it, I retract my opinion. A 20" wheel will still use a 30 series rear tire, so the overall diameter will be larger. I think it will rub badly on the outer fender w/ something like 275/30R20.

I'm going to test fit it when I go to pick it up but I hope it doesn't rub bad lol its coming with tires 285/25/20 in the rear and 235/30/20 infront ... i had 285/30/19 in the rear with my miros m6 rep wheels it had a 9.5 or 9 in width but the offsets were above 35 I can't remember what exactly it was but I was good I was dropped with h&r springs too .. the new wheels are 10 in wide in the back and a lower offset both front and rear than my previous setup

Any car with a FULL load will rub in the rear fender liner when you hit dips in the highway at speed.
About the suspension, factory e61 with the sport package do not have a lower suspension like the 3 series would. For the 5 series wagons, the package is trim items only.
