How do you effectively use the search function on the forums?

I go into the advanced search page, using the "gear" next to the search box, and put in [tpm malfunction]

and I get a bunch of erroneous results.

if I put in [tpm] it comes back with nothing.

is it that [tpm] is too short?

How do you use this?

you might try using the "all words" instead of "any words" to limit, and try clicking the "titles only" check box

You can also limit the specific forums that should be searched.

btw, in bmw terms, tpm should be tpms. that may also have an effect on your results

try: "tpm+malfunction"

 

Does that work too? I always thought it was: +tpm +malfunction
