Hello all,

I've spent the last couple hours upgrading the forums to the newest release of IPB, version 2.2. There's some minor changes here and there. A majority of the changes are internal which allow the forums to run more efficiently. In addition the registration process is slightly changed so we might see a drastic decline in spam (so I'm hoping). There's also some cosmetic improvements.

I'm in the process of upgrading the gallery but wanted to bring the board back online as quickly as possible. I'd love to hear your comments. Most notably IPB changed the way forum members profile pages are displayed, what do you think?

Looks good so far Lomag! Thanks for your continuing efforts to keep this place up-to-date and running smoothly!!

It's going to take me a while to poke around and investigate the changes, etc. As far as the profile page, it's interesting but I'm surprised it doesn't resize (width-wise) as well as it could. For me, it's not a problem but for some, it might mean a lot of horizontal scrolling.

I added you as a friend (hope you don't mind) to see how all that works/looks.

More playing around after dinner, I suppose...

Thanks again!

Awwww I have a friend.

LOL.

There's a couple issues I've noticed. The profile issue you mention which works OK in another forum I tried but not here. I'm not sure why. There's also a wierd gallery issue now so I'll probably have to close the gallery for a little bit while it's resolved. I'm doing some actual software upgrades on the server itself now, apache/php/mysql and such which is slowing down the site a little bit but it's needed!

Ahhhh.

That's why.

I was about to say the site is slower...

But then everything is fine.

I'm trying to figure out what the "friend" thing is all about. The old software had a place where you could store "buddies" (or something) and you could add a short (private) comment about that person to help you remember who it is, etc.

Did the upgrade lose all that information? I can't seem to find the list of member names that I had saved from the old version of board software...

It would seem to me that the "friends" feature of the message board is akin to adding friends on MySpace.

Lomag, can you let us know what's up with the "ratings" of each member (5 stars, etc.) I see that many of us are at 5 stars but others are at less (Iceman is at zero stars). Obviously, the ratings are not a function of post count so what determines someone's rating?

I went a little crazy with the rating system earlier. Each one of us can rate other members. You've noticed that most have 5-stars and one person (EBMCS03) has 1 star.
