Force location on profile?

Is there a way to automatically send a PM to a newly registered user? If not, the FAQ "announcement" (sticky) might help a little, don't you think?

I agree with rudy that a sticky thread would work great. Not having a location is very anoying when answering somebody's question.

The sending of a customized PM or even email to new members isn't possible, again a board software short fall. That would be ideal though.
We could make a sticky topic somewhere but I dont want regular members to be bugged by it everyday, or multiple times per day for most of you.
I just don't see any resolution to this issue until the IPB folks change the code around to allow the location field and others to be placed on the registration page with a recommendation to fill it out.

No big deal really, I'm just one of those guys who's always looking for little efficiencies, etc.
We'll just have to keep doing what were doing, I guess.
Maybe just a regular FAQ thread that says something like "Why should I enter my location in my profile?" (The answer being something like: "BMW offers many different engines and options that are not always available in every country. It's helpful to provide your location in your profile so that the forum members can provide country specific answers to any questions you may have.")
Again, no big deal either way...
