Thumbs up for BMWNA or stepping up. I am really amazed that they took the time to do some time to dig for your info. But what if your screen name wasn't Craig1841 and was something like....I don't know...."Smoothie Thrower" or something haha.

Really quite easy ... Date of birth from profile; ping IP address ... turn 3x to the left then hop twice on right foot. The Feds do this all the time ...
You think? I dont think BMWNA can just look up the IP address of a member. Unless the Admins have worked with them and gave them the capability. Birth date... possible... along with location I guess... but still rather hard if they didnt have help from the inside (as in members here). Feds are different. This is BMW NA... I figure they have just as much permission on this board as you and me.

I am sure they just ran my first name and date of birth from the forums to black 535 leases from fields BMW (as my lease is with BMWNA) and came up with a small number of people. They probably are able to check who has had warranty work done and cross referenced the limited info against the HPFP service at fields, then used the info in their database to contact me.
I am sure I would not have received a phone call if my car was financed/leased with anyone other then BMWNA as that is how they tracked down my contact info.
Either way, I am impressed they did the research and it reflects highly upon BMWNA.

My bet is that it was easier than what everyone is speculating about...
If you mentioned Fields BMW, they probably just contacted the service manager and asked them to figure out who the poster was based on their recent service visits, HPFP issues, etc. Really, how hard could it have been?
