Yes i agree. I for one trullly confess that i used sometimes rather harsh in words and maybe less tolerant, and that's in a way my fault but lately it seems that on this forum came a few people that became to show only arrogance and non-tolerance and grandomany, the same people that kinda trash the e60 even though i don't even think they own an e60 or better yet don't even own a bimmer.
I for one stand for mature and responsable posts with a high degree of tolerance. Sorry if i upset anyone. For the last month i changed in a way. Several topics cahanged me and my view on some people. Good and bad.

I agree that everyone should be more mature and tolerant to each other so this wonderfull forum can carry on. I for one love it.
I have to agree with you, there are one or two arrogant know all non E60 owners on this forum who know everything about absolutely nothing and deserve everything that is thrown at them.I for one don't mind doing a bit of the throwing because i get fed-up reading bullshit.

"roadfly rakishness"
Yes, it does seem to get that way once in a while here and we do NOT want to be like RoadFly.

With sales of the E60 going strong we do have a lot of new members here, so it's up to the veterans and significant contributors to continue to set a good example and keep this the great forum that it is.

This isn't just the best E60 or BMW site - it's the best automotive forum on the web!

Thanks to all of you.

bankerboyz,
As a newbie on this forum, I have seen nothing but mature and sensible disccusions.
I have been felt welcome and received almost instantaneous supportive responses.
Though I have not seen any malicious behaviours, I absolutely agree with your sentiment.
Let's keep it clean, courteous, civil, polite and above all have fun (unlike other nasty forums).

I can't say that I am familiar with Roadfly, much less its rakishness, but I will note that over the past couple of weeks (and I've ony been here a couple of months) there seems to be a degradation of post topic importance.

Maybe it's me, and my lack of interest in MP3s etc. and aftermarket wheels, but the bottom line is these aren't the things that I come here for. Since there is a separate room for accessories and modifications, etc. I wish that these Non-OEM items could be discussed and pictured there.

I will note with some surprise the registration number of some of the Newbies--those roles have grown dramatically since I registered in November. This may signal an influx of people not intimately familiar with BMW esoterica, much less our board's informal "civility contract." Maybe some of the harshness you see may be from outsiders rather than insiders. But as a former board moderator, I can tell you there is nothing I have noticed that would be even questionable other than the shifting of some topics to dedicated rooms on the board.

Cheers,
Ray Hull

I agree basically. The way I see the issue is lack of politeness; lack of respect for others, their opinions, and their preferences; and failure to refrain from flaming including name calling. In regard to the name calling thing, I don't see any reason for people to refer to others idiots, Japs, morons, ricers, pimply-faced kids, etc. even if those referred to are not participating in the discussions (e.g., dealer employees, car attendants, auto makers, and the "Fast and Furious" types). Calling names in this fashion detracts from good points those doing the calling may be making and, as the same time, makes it appear that their intentions are to cause uproars rather than to contribute to the discussion. I also include sarcasm and the inappropriate us of signatures to run others down to fall under the headings of flamming, direspecting, etc.

When these things happen to me, I state my displeasure politely and do not reply in like kind. I also try to promote no flamming; always being polite to others; and never disrespecting others, their opinions, or their preferences by indicating that behaving in these ways is the hallmark of our discussions. I would appreciate it if others objected politely to all these sorts of inappropriate behaviors. In this regard, some do.

There is no reason that we can't disagree peacefully. I think we usually do. I think that what has happened recently is an influx of some who don't see things the same way and who would like to cause uproars--generally not the less-recent regulars with minor exceptions.

I agree with you man! 100%. Also i agree with the fact that the races/driving experiences may very well go better in the lounge section. I made some mistakes regarding the last bit.
We have a "The Competition" section that could house racing stories, etc. That's were I put mine. There already is a "Kills" thread in this section. Maybe someone should start a "Killed' thread.

I feel that "disagreements" make these forums a better place as long as they are conducted in a civil manner.

I recently had one of those with Cidair and Bettermakehay in the thread below. We expressed our views in a gentlemanly way, disagreed and moved on. Good to to do sometimes

They were still talking bollocks though......
