Default 545i oil pressure switch changed but low pressure warning remains on

Hi I have just renewed the oil pressure switch as was leaking oil. Oil leak cured, but low oil pressure light now come on. The car drives fine and obviously has good pressure. It’s as though the sensor isn’t sending the information anywhere saying
that all is well. I have checked the continuity of the electrical connection as far back as I could get to towards rear of engine and all is ok. Have ordered another switch in case the one I have is faulty (OEM BMW). I am hoping it is just bad luck with a faulty sensor, but wondering if there’s anything I could have missed. For example if there is a well known problem with this.
Thanks.

Could be a bad sensor / brand or connection. How much mileage have you driven since replacing it?

Thanks. the new sensor was OEM BMW. I have driven about 6 miles since fitting it. Engine is ok running sweet and oil level is fine. Connector has current and was ok before fitting new sensor. Connector has had a thorough clean and looks ok

Default Update

Tried 4 pressure switches with same result. Warning light stays on. Engine is fine. Plenty of oil. Have renewed connector got current continuity. At a loss now. Could do with checking resistance, but don’t know what parameters should be. Does anyone know or know where I can find out?

What part number did you use and did it match the one that came off the car. How do you have a US car in GB. P/n is 12617607910 or V20725258

12 61 8 611 273 genuine BMW (tried 2) and a Hella unit identical to BMW.
It’s not a US car. About 260 were sold as UK cars with 333BHP
Sorry think I have caused some confusion. It is oil pressure switch not level sensor

Ok I see you're saying it's the switch. I was confused how a sensor is causing a low oil pressure light

Hell the only things I can think about is not torqued all the way (27Nm), debris in pickup, or software issue. Did you clear the code and unplug negative terminal for a few mins to see if it would come back. This is a hard issue because there's not much to replace a sensor. Do you know the code it's throwing
