I got a quote based on 3 buyers for the San Francisco Bay area. The shipping charges would be split between the 3 buyers to help offset the cost.

He quoted me around $1200 per hood. Its more than I expected, I remember the one from VIP Racing was around $650 or so, If I remember right. I don't know if it's the same quality or not? I think I'll wait till VIP brings in more from China. I was planning on painting it also so that will be another $400 to $500. Definitely out of budget for me.

I was thinking the same thing. There has got to be a cheaper way to ship these otherwise nothing would get shipped this way. $925 + $1200 shipping to California + shipping to Colorado. A vorsteiner hood brand new can be ordered for $2200.

I guess this only makes sense for people that are local unless shipping is a fraction of that price.

Just to clarify the quote is $1192 per hood delivered to SF Airport, if 3 people purchased. The freight charge for 3 hoods is $800 and each hood cost $925

So the $800 would get split up between the 3 people equaling about $267 per person plus the $925 which comes out to $1192 per person

I am not saying that it's not worth it, cause looking at the pictures, the quality and fit look great. It's just More than I can afford being I want to paint mine. Maybe if we got like a 6 or more buyers, then we can maybe lower shipping cost and price of the hood. I was hoping to be in $800 to $850 range delivered. Like I said I'll wait till VIP Racing gets more in or find a used OEM vorsteiner, which I have seen sold in the classifieds for $1000 to $1300. I hate myself cause I didn't act quickly on two different ads in the last year which both were painted Alpine white, same as my car. Both Vorsteiner's sold for under $1200.

it will be cheaper if there are more than 3 pcs, but would like some firm ideas b4 pestering my freight forwarder

i am generally sending by air courier ez smaller custom made items like F10 spoilers (weigh 160g) and diffusers to private buyers and some in weird places (u will be surprised).

its a funny thing people spend 150bucks on a fake fiberglasss ac window spoiler weighing like 1kg (yes i have done that b4!)
but for a carbon hood at 9.5kg @ 1200 its expensive, but saying that everyone has a budget and a wife to worry about, not like u Mark
u are a rampant single guy!!!
