Looking at the photos Mark posted , it seems that the hood is made from carbon fiber but that the vents are made from black plastic . For all of us with non black cars that will paint both upper and under side of the hood what difference does it make if we go with the fiberglass one because obviously the only unpainted pieces would be the vents ? Is there a significant weight difference between the two??

The vents are fiberglass with a glossy black upper (they weigh close to nothing). The wire is attached with epoxy to the vents so it is removable just a little difficult cause the vents are fragile. I assume heating them up would do the trick.
here are some pic's as posted in my other thread

Great looking hood you got there! What i meant to ask is if there is a significant difference in weight between the fiberglass hood vs carbon fiber one since i will be sanding the clear coat off the carbon fiber and painting everything but the vents anyways .
thank you

its probably lighter then CF because all CF is laid on top of fiberglass anyway unless your going non rep.. durability and strength straight c/f def is better to go with.

FYI it's Chinese New Year, today here in the States, yesterday in Asia, so we probably won't be able to get any concrete response until next week. People tend to take/get a whole week off.. so that may be the reasoning for slow responses.
I've been having similar issues with the factories here in the States.
