i am very confident it will work - why should it not work??? i am waiting for nigxdoof for his reasoning..

You can easily find out whether the mirrors have autofolding - open up the mirror, look at the ecu and count the number of wires coming out of the ECU..

Check this out. If the mirrors have all the features then you ECU is fully loaded with 11 cables, liek here:

Attachment 53359

If you compare it with an ECU of a mirror with only heated glass:

Attachment 53360

Do you see a difference in the wires??

For my ECU, the wires were as such:
RED/GREEN/BROWN: the mirror connector
VIOLET/BLACK: For the EC mirror
RED BROWN: heated mirrors
BROWN/GRAY: paddle lights
YELLOW/WHITE: autofold

Dont get urself get nervous by comments made by people here
not nervous, just anxious!lol

so wait, as far as checking for the wiring......you would be talkin' about my current mirrors ECU, since that's what's going into the M5 mirros - correct?

kindly clarify.

What i am saying is that you should open up the M5 mirror. If it s a fully loaded mirror, the ECU in the m5 mirror will have 11 connectors (fully loaded). If your current LCI mirror is fully loaded, then you will see you also have 11 conectors on your current LCI ECU. you cut the 11 cables of the m5 mirror, take out the m5 ecu and put the your LCI ECU into the m5 mirror. You now have to connect your LCI ecu with all the cables in there. If your m5 mirror is fully loaded, you will have 11 cables to connect. In my case, my lci mirror was not fully loaded, so therefore I could only connect 5 cables in total.. you get what i mean???

In my case I kept the fully loaded M5 mirror ECU (that has 11 wires) w/o any wire cutting as is and retain exactly same future w/ my std. mirror (heat, memory & dip on reverse plus all the up/down std. motor adjustment) functionality as rsyed so no auto-fold, auto-dim & puddle light.

Then, I modded the puddle led light myself.

did your original mirros have auto fold to begin with?

Nope, mine just basic adjustment w/ heat, memory & dip on reverse on passenger side.

AFAIK US pre-LCI (non-M5) has no folding, but I could be wrong.

If the M5 mirror has no folding motor in its pivot (the motor part is visible) if any than fully loaded mirror ECU will make no diff.

the way i see it, why would they make M5 mirrors with the ability to pivot and not put a motor in it? i guess worse comes to worse, i can yank my original auto fold motor and put it into the M5 mirrors. possible?

I don't think it's possible the inside is diff. as you notice the std mirror fold in while M5 mirror more like twist up.
My thought was the same w/ you, I'm under the impression all M5 mirror do auto-fold but I guess not.

rsyed posted dismantled pics when he got his mirror and the frame inside look different.
You can pop open your std. mirror to compare it w/ rsyed pics.

Hey John,

I thought you were looking for a plug and play solution for these mirrors.

If you are taking it apart and frankensteining the mirrors, then anything is possible. But as for plug and play, they are different harnesses.

And for the mirror folding option. someone mentioned it they do fold different so you'll have to look into that.

I can't verify, because I dont know the LCI's inside... Good luck john, either way, you'll have awesome mirrors. You can probably have eurorev help you mod it.

Sorry for the worry and confusion, but i just wanted you guys not to get dissapointed when you got the mirror. Its heartbreaking to get a part and can't use it.

Its all good, I appreciate the input.

Yes, I am happy w/the mirrors regardless. The auto fold would just be icing on the e60 cake!
