Bruce, interested, though want to understand the full implications and requirements of getting the features to work.
My vehicle is an 07 LCI model, yet has only the heated and electric position feature from factory - no dipping on reverse, no fold and no extended lighting.

I guess I need to drop my door card off and check the wiring present to the current mirrors to help identify them - i'm expecting to find 4 wired variant based upon your previous explorations.

I just realised that I can rewrite the post Sep 2005 mirrors that I have as pre Sep 2005. How? Well I have a set of normal pre Sep 2005 mirrors with ALL functions. So all I have to do is swap the internals from both mirrors.

That means I can supply completely plug and play pre Sep 2005 M5 mirrors as well to anyone who is interested but was put off by the fact that I was selling only post Sep 2005 mirrors.
