I have replicas 18 x 8, with an offset of 35mm, the wheel stick out 8mm more to the outside, but the car looks good and there are not problems with vibrations, as far as I know the center bore, hub, is 72.56mm wich is standar for the xi. In your case, you want to go from 17" to 18" wheels and the offset would be 38mm, In my opinion you should not have problems using them, the wheel will stick out only 5mm, practically nothing. I am using these wheels already for 3 months.
Good luck.
Which replica's do you have? And there's no vibrations at any speed? I'm not concerned about the rears sticking out, as I know they won't. It's the fronts.

Let me ask you this...if you lowered the car, would the front wheels still tuck under the wells?

Do you have an xi as well? And where did you get replicas from? Also, care to post some pics please?

Yes, I have a 530xi with the sport package and 18" OEM wheels with an offset of 43mm, and also I have a set of replicas 18x8 style 166 with an offset of 35mm. I bought these replicas from Lakeshore wheels. You should not expect the same quality of an OEM, but for the price, I would say, we could get almost 3 sets of replicas for the price of 1 set of OEM, also, the weigth is ligther, the wheel+tire is 11 pounds lighter per unit than the OEM.
My suggestion to you, since you live in Canada, you should keep the OEM 17" for winter, and the set of replicas for summer.
If you look for replicas, make sure that you ask for a center bore (hub) of 72.56mm, otherwise you will be buying problems. Remember, these replicas are being produce for different cars, ours is E60, there are E39 with hub=74.1, both are 5 series but different chassis, also you can find these wheels produce for the 3 series which had the same hub than our cars.
Sorry, but I don't have pictures yet.

I have replicas style 166. I just ran the car up to 95m/h with no vibrations, but I don't do that often. Sticking out? there are people with non xi cars that use wider front wheels, my car has 18x8, but there are people who have 19x9 plus spacers, where do you think that extra inch goes?.
Am sorry, but lowering the car is not an option for me, otherwise I would not buy an xi. Thats why BMW did not do it when I order the sport package.

I was wondering which brand of 166's, but you just told us that they're from LSW&T.

I was actually referring to the offset of 35mm. Not concerned about the width. With a 35mm offset, your replica's push out 8mm more towards the outside edge of the fender in the front. That's why I asked if the wheel/tire in the front was stick neatly tucked into the well still. If you put an 18x8 with an offset of ET20 on the front, the front wheels will stick out well beyond the fender wells in the front and look terrible...hence the reason we can't go with standard RWD E60 wheels on our fronts.

That's good that 95 produces no vibrations, but I find myself going much faster than that when I occassionally drive down to the Borgata on weekends on the GS. 110-115 is average. Can you do me a favor and go drive down your street 125mph and let us know if there are any vibrations? Just kidding bud.

If you could post some pix of your car, that would be great. Would like to see how they look on your 530 Sport Pack, since I have the same car.

Thanks again!

Here is a local non-E60post member's 17" inch 166 replicas. Didn't take anymore pictures, because I'm going for 18" inch replicas, not 17" inch like the ones pictured.

I like how my for sale post has turned into a 166 wheel discussion thread, hahaha. In the midst of it all, I forgot to mention my wheels are

SOLD!!!!!!!!!

So yes, that means I will be getting the 18" 166 replicas, expect to see a huge write up with pics and info from me once I get those wheels mounted hopefully sometime next week.

LOL! Sorry about that blinkme...I was probably a culprit in changing the topic. Anyway, congrats on selling them and congrats on the new wheels. Can't wait to see them!
