Trying to find a pair of SWS 8 subs and small enough amp to hide, I still want your cable. For SWS do we need 2 ohm or 4 ohm version? I was looking at Blaupunkt THA 275 or 555 amp will that work?

what If I wanted to by pass the factory amp and run a 4 channel amp in the trunk. I would upgrade the speakers in my 535i 2008 but I dont think it will make much of a difference? Any thoughts on that. I called a local audio place and they said they would not touch my car because of the electronics in it.

If you have the standard hi-fi audio, then it's not as easy to amplify the regular speakers as those are powered from the head unit itself. This harness is using the line signal to the OEM amp for the subwoofers and converting it to an RCA for an after market amp.

Technic

I'm intrested in getting the wire harness for my 05 530I. I just got the car last week and i've always had a good system in all my cars so of course I want to put one in this one. I like that fact that the harness will plug into the factory amp becuase I don't want anybody rewiring anything in the cabin...lol. How can I tell if it will work with my amp I looked in the trunk for the amp and wasn't sure exactly where it was. I'm just gonna hook up a "Kicker TS10L32 Single 10" Solo BARIC L3 Sub 2ohm" its about 400watts. Also in best buy they had it hooked up to a 1000watt kenwood it sounded real good.

Would I be able to hook those up to the factory amp or will that be to much? How can I get the wire harness?

The amp chosen (2ohms stable or not) determines which SWS (-8X = 4ohms, -8Xi = 2ohms) to get.

The THA555 is a 5-channel amp; if you want only to power a pair of SWS-8 then you need only a 2-channel amp. Try a Rockford P300-2.

The standard USA E60 audio system is the HiFi: front and rear speakers are powered by the iDrive unit, the underseat woofers are powered by a small, 2-channel OEM amp in the trunk.

Therefore, to upgrade your system with new speakers and an amp then a 6-channel amp would be needed as a minimum. This is the harness kit that I sell to help add such a 6-channel amp to the E60: https://5series.net/forums/topic/116...1#entry1372277

The harness that I sell to add a trunk sub works with all OEM sound systems offered in the USA E60.

Please PM for ordering details.

Hi Technic, my car has the L7 system.
i have a monoblock 2400W rms amp and an Kicker L7 just sitting in my garage collecting dust, spiders, etc.
Simply put... your harness + my toys = exploding trunk & popped ear drums?

If so... is there a DIY and how much?

This is a quick install in a customer's E90: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...40&postcount=1

That is fundamentally the same install for the E60: unplug OEM amp, plug harness/LOC in between and that's it. RCA and remote turn on outputs are readily available to an aftermarket amp/trunk sub.

Harness is $85 shipped in the USA, PayPal is m3jonese@netscape.net.
