People get the misconception that things don't depreciate in value. They also do not understand that once installed a product is not new or "like new", it is used. I have seen many people try to sell their used stuff for a few dollars less then new or sometimes more then new. These people play on buyer ingorance and their is allot of this going on. Today someone posted a used M5 bumper for $600 when you could get a new one at the dealer for ~$400 (with 25% E60.net at discount Newport or your local BMW). As far as posting prices I think it should be a rule on the forum that a price must be listed for every item for sale. I get tired of pm'ing for prices including the vendors, it is plain stupid and a waste of time and bandwidth.

I posted a similar post a few weeks ago and got flamed.

I made this suggestion a long time ago. Maybe if more of us would speak up things could change?

Dragons don't need flame suit. But thanks for the heads-up.

I won't tell people how to sell their "stuff" but my experience is that the "PM me for Price" sellers often sell at or above market price. Additionally, it's can also be a sign that they are not really familar with business sales, don't usually negotiate, and are not in any urgency to sell their item. Take it or leave it attitude. As a buyer, if you are desperate and need it, buy it. Otherwise, there's also better deals down the road. The question is, can a buyer want for that deal?

If you are vendor and have strict guidelines by the manufacturer, that is completely understandable.

A busness deal is just a business deal. Why get offended. You either accept or decline and move on to the next transaction.

On a completely different subject, every time I read the headline for this thread, I think of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and Larry David having "Long Balls"!! It really was TOO funny!

i frequent other forums where it is mandatory to post a price in the classifieds or the thread will get deleted.

The bottom line in business is that a thing is only as valuable as another is willing to pay for it. With that being said, there is ALWAYS someone out there who will pay a buck for a shiny new (or used lol) nickle (it's an unscrupulous seller who would take advantage to be sure, but Caveat Emptor - let the buyer beware - is ALWAYS the name of the game). If you aren't happy with what is being sold, your right as a consumer is to move on to another, more suitable sale. There are many reasons for inflated sale prices, as well as utilizing private negotiations through PM's. Of course you can attempt to bicker a seller into a lower price. However, it may be a better use of your time and energy to simply move on to the next. Changing the format to eliminate PM pricing, brow-beating a seller on firm prices, and name calling seems a bit juvenile for a group of professionals. Just my .02
