What do we think of this recent post? Is this a sneaky way of doing a bump?

http://forums.e60.net/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=721731
I don't think that's too bad (if you're referring to the one with the "new" pic).

I think this one's worse, post #20 "PM sent"
http://forums.e60.net/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=719039

PM sent replies in threads are basically useless. When the intended recipient logs-in to the forum, the board alerts them that they have a new PM, negating the need for the thread response of "PM sent" or "PM replied". I think this is a sneaky way of bumping threads.

I'd have to say one of the biggest issue with this site for me is the "PM me for price " mumbo jumbo. I say post the price or state you are selling below printable price. So if your selling replica parts there is no reason for not posting a price. And with the whole replica thing, i feel the people who buy replica parts, watches, handbags, etc would never buy the real item anyway so who is really missing out. Would i ever spend $1,000 on an ACS wing or $200 for a set of pedals? Hell no! Even if there was not replica available i would never spend that much on something like that. But i would never buy bootleg watches, clothing, electronics, or handbags for the Mrs. You should spend the extra money for warranty and quality. Not to say look what i have. To me saying replica sales are hurting vendors is like saying CZ jewelry is hurting Debeers. They are two completely different demographics that rarely, if ever, compete for the same market.
+1000000

This "PM me for price" is silly. It's like those car ads in the paper that say some ridiculous things like "$10000 below MSRP" only to find out when you hit the dealer it was a ploy to get you there. Post the price and if your price is fair then people will buy, enough said.

As stated before the person buying a replica will never spend the money to buy the real thing. Banning the sale here will not solve anything. Most of the replica parts (body) do not have an authentic label on them (like a watch or purse) so a creative seller will find a way to sell it by calling it "style", "look" or using another creative term just as they are doing on eBay. Unless there is a label on the product how can it be called a replica?

JBSPEED is selling replicas only, without labeling his threads so, and his parts have the labels on them...
He is already violating our existing rules that everyone has agreed to upon registering...

A bump is a post that only serves to bump the topic back to the top of the list.
Newest posts/threads are always shown first, so people bump their threads so that they are on top of the list where everyone sees them.

Such posts are (in example):

bump
bumb
ttt
up
^
PM replied
PM sent
Or simply just a smiley

All just serve to bring the topic up to position one again.

And as we already said they interfere with the search and the view new posts function.

I am so glad this "pm sent" stuff is gone. No offense, Nerweezy, but I think those 2 words accounted for half of your post count!

The other half were from "welcome to the forums....enjoy."

+1 on that! Thank God no more 'pm sent' which is one of those things I really never understood and, which like I mentioned in a previous post, is unnecessary since the receiver will definitely see the PM pop-up window when that person visits the forum.

Great!

Yes, we all like C's Bimmer

Now, let's take a step back ... if I remember correctly, this wasn't really an
issue until a "certain someone" attempted to turn this forum into eBay.

Typical problem solving scenario:
  1. Identify problem
  2. Attempt to fix problem
  3. Attempt failed
  4. Problem refuses to fix itself
  5. Ban problem
  6. Done
  7. E60.net = happy place again

+1.. and i like C's bimmer too
