Here are the data:

Handling dry (2770 m track):

B-stone RFT: 1,17,0 min
B-stone Std: 1.19,4 min
PS2 RFT: 1.17,4
PS2 Std: 1.17,8 min

Handling wet (2300 m track)

B-stone RFT: 1.49,3 min
B-stone Std: 1.44,7 min
PS2 RFT: 1.44,2
PS2 Std: 1.42,5 min

Braking dry (100 km/h)

B-stone RFT: 36,7 m
B-stone Std: 37,9 m
PS2 RFT: 36,7 m
PS2 Std: 35,6 m

Braking wet (100 km/h)

B-stone RFT: 52,4 m
B-stone Std: 49,2 m
PS2 RFT: 54,3 m
PS2 Std: 49,8 m
4,5 m differance in the wet between RFT and non RFT!!

As a side note, Sport Auto is a very higly regarded magazine and is a sister to Auto Motor & Sport!
I have no trouble trusting their test data.

Ah, thanks for transcribing the data. Interesting. Looks like the RFTs -are- better in the dry. Must be the stiffer sidewalls, which should hurt things in the wet... Makes sense to me.

I'm torn about what to do when my Dunlops die. I'm leaning towards the Goodyear F1 GS-D3. All the anecdotes about improved driving experience with non-RFTs is certainly encouraging.

My RE050 RFT is useless in the rain, and it only have 11,000 km on it. My mind is like in DSC mode everytime I drive in the rain, I am paying alot of attention to my steering and accelerator input everytime the road is wet, way too much if you ask me so I will go for non RFT once those are completely done. Will post a thread as soon as I changed the tires.

Any other thought? I know that there have been a lot of (negative) discussions regarding RFT's but the poor road performance is all new to me!
They do PS2 Run-flats?

Correct!

Sport Auto issue 6/2006

It's a red Audi RS4 and a Z4 / MZ4 on the cover.

Michelin is coming out w/ their "ZP" (zero pressure) tires. Tirerack offers several but not a PS2 version. There is a Pilot Sport ZP offered on the website...

Indeed, but the OP lists 'PS2 RFT' and 'PS2 Standard'?

Yes, I was able to read the test results as well. As these ZP tires are relatively new for Michelin, perhaps a ZP version of the PS2 was provided for the testing, even though they may not be available to the public yet. I can't fathom how they would make a Pilot Sport ZP and not eventually offer the PS2 in ZP as well. Just assuming the folks at the magazine are bright enough to include the correct tires in their testing write-up, but that could be a big mistake on my part.

Upon further review, this UK tire seller is offering a Pilot Sport 2 ZP, tenth tire down...

Very interesting! Fairly limited sizes at the moment but it does seem the PS2 gets a ZP version - wonder how it compares for the other RFTs...? Shame the picture isn't actually the PS2 tread!?

I noticed that about the tread as well, since I just put PS2's on my car last week. I'd be curious to hear about them as well. So many horror stories with various RFTs, even from different makers. Wonder if Michelin's will be any better?
