Hi, I write from hungary, and I read an article from e60 crashtest:

This is an official article.

Here is the link of the topic, it is hungarian, but the essence:

The e60 has got ***, three, 3, stars on crashtest.

This is a medium issue, the main problem the airbags, because the open time is

not optimal.( It need an electronic rework)

The BMW said, that they will repair the problem for the last official

crashtest, on all cars. And said: the Mercedes also had this problem with C Klass,

but after the electronic rework the C Klass had *****, 5 stars.

I hope, and I wait for the letter to my house, that when will I go to fix this problem

on my car.

Thats all. bye

If the problem is applicable to ALL cars and not just the mule's they use for the tests then I don't think their is a problem as BMW will issue a recall for the airbags.

Enough people know about these problems with the tests, BMW would not be able to hide it. I already wrote to BMW GB and got a letter back saying I would be told what, if any, changes are made to achieve the actual NCAP rating.

Opening times on airbags can be depenent on a lot of factors so what is right for one test might not be right for another, guess this is where the problem was.

We should be getting a letter from BMW if they have to upgrade the air bag deployment electronics.
