But there having Quality and Reliability doesn't guarantee Desirability.?? It is just part of the equation.? ?

Cheers!?? Mike.

Totally agree, although Lexus are reliable but I don't have the desire to own one compare with my E60.

I have the desire to own both BWM and Lexus vehicles, but not the money to do so.

I don't have any desire for anything GM, Ford, or Chrysler makes.? ? That makes me sad, in a way...?

Really?

The Cadillac CTS-V does nothing for you? 400 hp and 400 ft/lbs of torque , a track proven suspension with huge Brembos is of no interest to you?

Like it or not, Caddy is making some kick ass cars right now.

hmm... oh sorry got lost thinking about the M5, now what were you saying about the Cadillac, oh wait is a GM. I am sorry is strange that all those stuff didn't arouse my desire to get one anytime soon.

P.S. If the Caddy is that good, why are you considering a 550i could it be desire?

So performance is not all that important to you? Performance does not arouse your desire? You might not like GM for some reason or another, thats ok, but give Caddy its props when due. Up until the 06 M5 the CTS-V could run neck and neck with it.

P.S. I am considering the 550i for a host of reasons, but none because I won't buy a GM car or because I have a "desire" to own a BMW. First and foremost is the SMG, second is some of the luxury amenities on the 550i. Bang for the buck and purely performance wise the Caddy beats the 550i. I love the CTS-V and the 550i both and give both cars mutual props and respect and would be happy to drive either.

When did I say performance does not arouse my interest . If you read further up the posts, I said I am not interested in anything from GM, Chrsyler or Ford. You are right I am not interested in what performance the CTS-V can give, the first thing I said to myself when that car come out is "who came up with the design" and they are saying that this car will compete against the E46 . Well you know that's what happen when a company grows too big, they do crazy stuff and the big three manufacturer in the U.S. does come up with design that doesn't appeal to me. I am not saying they won't come up with something good in the future but they will need something really cool to change me.

I looked hard at the CTS-V, but the styling doesn't do it for me. Also, the interior materials and quality are still more Chevette than BMW. That is my biggest gripe about GM, they can build a kick a$$ drivetrain and suspension, but put the worst interiors in them. The leather is the cheapest you can get. The bean counters get their way on the inside. Plus, the local Cadillac dealer still wants at least Sticker or better for any CTS-V, here. The CTS-V, seemed small to me as well. And of course, the Cadillac Stigma is still there for me. I am 40, but most of the Caddies I see are still driven by the WWII generation.

Caddy is doing well in SCCA World Challenge racing right now, but there is more to that story, than just wins and manufacturers cups. Racing is Politics, believe me, I know. Porsche should have one the Manufacturers Cup, not Cadillac.

To each his own, right now, BMW, does it for me. GM, you better listen up and STOP cutting corners. Unfortunately, they are in a really hard position right now.

Regards, Mike.

Whats wrong with the CTS-V performance that makes you not interested? And what does performance have to do with the cars design? If you don't like the way it looks, thats one thing and a very valid reason for not liking the car. But don't tell me the car can't perform.

Second thing. So whats wrong with an Audi? You have a problem with those cars too? My A6 2.7T stacks up just fine against your 523.

Oh, and sorry to hijack this thread, it was not my intention.

well it depends how objective this reliability issue is.
The thing is that german cars are much more advanced and full of elctronics. No offense but US cars are among the worst regarding driving abillity and technological advantages. Simply said=US car's just so simple steel boxes on wheels therefore not much to be malfunctioning...... .......so hard to compare fully loaded 7er with some Buick or TownCar

and now please do not eat me guys Must admit the new C6 Corvette hmmmm
