I really didn't mean to start a Porsche vs BMW SUV war here. I just threw out the idea because I was interested why Peter530i would choose the Hartge X5 over the Cayenne Turbo. I don't know how much you would end up spending on a Hartge X5, but I imagine they're close to the same price ($125,000). In the end though, an un-tuned Cayenne Turbo out performs the X5 in I think just about every way.

Also, my Cayenne Turbo averages 16 mpg, I don't think the X5 is getting anywhere close to that after all the performance tuning.
As for the accidental Cayenne S vs X5 4.8is dispute I started, here is what I think.

Cayenne S
Curb Weight: 4949 lbs, Horsepower: 340 hp, Torque: 310 lb-ft, Acceleration: 0-60 mph in 6.8 sec

X5 4.8is
Curb Weight: 5016 lbs, Horsepower: 355 hp, Torque: 369 lb-ft, Acceleration: 0-60 mph in 5.9 sec

Therefore, I think you were both right and I appreciate everyone's input.
i think he was reffering to this as a kind of dream machine irregardless of the price. anyways i really like the porsche suvs but believe me the 4.8is (i cant claim the same for the others) can take a corner at such a speed that the porsche would tumble over... the 4.8is is an absolute beast and really does take some serious horsepower to outperform it

That said i cant wait to see how the Revised Turbo S does

Although I know the X5 can take a corner extremely well, I refuse to believe that the Cayenne couldn't take the exact same turn just as well.

For these reasons:

Cayenne Turbo
Height: 66.9 inches, Width: 75.9 inches, Wheelbase: 112.4 inches, Weight: 5,192 lbs, Ground Clearance at Lowest Driving Level: 7.48 inches, Drag Coefficient: .39, Turns Lock-to-Lock: 2.65, Turning Circle: 39 ft

X5 4.8is
Height: 67.2 inches, Width: 73.7 inches, Wheelbase: 111 inches, Weight: 5,016 lbs, Ground Clearance at Lowest Driving Level: 6.5 inches, Drag Coefficient: .38, Turns Lock-to-Lock: 3.5, Turning Circle: 39.7 ft

Therefore, both vehicles having very similar self-leveling springs, gas shock absorbers, and roll bars, I must insist that the Cayenne can perform just as well since it is actually wider, shorter, turns tighter, and has a longer wheelbase. Meaning that it's center of gravity is actually lower than that of the X5. Furthermore, if you happen to be doing speeds in excess of 130mph, the Cayenne will drop down a further half of an inch. I don't think BMW's suspension has anything like that.

and weights around 420kg less. and the cayenne s does 0-100km in 7 seconds, the x5 4.8is does in 5.9s

The BMW X5 4.8 does 0-100km/h in 6.1 sec according to BMW Sweden and the Porsche Cayenne S 0-100 km/h in 6.8 sec according to Porsche Sweden. With manual gearbox the Cayenne weights 2 225 kg and with tiptronic 2245 kg. The BMW X5 4.8 weights 2275 kg. That means that the Cayenne with tiptronic is lighter with 30 kg against the X5 which is a fair comparison.

The nicest X5 I've seen is unfortunately not for sale...

...and even if you owned one, you'd need a gas pump in your garage.

I agree with 700700 on this.
Althought i must say you really made me curious about the handling and cornering ability of the 4.8is.

AND to conclude i would take neither of them. 300bhp+ is for me a waste in an suv but that's just my way of thinking.
Also who said that the cayenne performs way better than the x5 off road, maybe true cuz i'm not into suv off road performance, but let's not become unrealistic and say that the X5 can be overtaken by a yaris or whatever in poor conditions and the cayenne is the big daddy of, off-roaders. I mean i hardly bealive that someone that get a turbo s will throw it into mud and forest roads and mountains and steep and rocky places. Pls! And i don't know if a X5 4.8is drinks as much as a turbo cayenne. A turbo cayenne is just an ugly suv, a pumped up 911, without a clear target, and just a gaz guggler, fast indeed, and to enure the owner the certainty that he can climb tall sidewalks whenever he pleases. Otherwise i don't picture the owner of a cayenne taking his dog in his luxurious suv, and the family and drive off road through rivers and stuff.

I'd rather have a sports car with sports car handling
The best conclusion.
