Yeah yeah interesting..... BUT my opinion is that the new M5 needs be better, I will be less than impressed if the new M5 has less than 10 cylinders and 600bhp.....

555bhp is nice but I REALLY want the new M5 to top these cars. I'm already saving for the new M5, will be gutted if it turns out to have the same engine as these things.....
I wouldn't be suprised if it had the same engine but possibly tuned for a bit more power. Then again, it may be the exact engine but in a relatively lighter platform compared to the X5 and X6, it'll naturally give better numbers.

BMW seems to be abandoning the V10. This month's Motor Trend reported that a BMW insider claimed that the company will, in 10 years time, only have 4 and 6 cylinder engines. Say it ain't so.

You gotta love these beasts!!!! They will surely take a bite out of Porsche Cyenne GTS/Turbo models sales. I didn't see anything about gas mileage...hope its not as bad as the current M line up.

All I know is that with an ECU remap on this engine, you are looking at 650HP and 600+ TQ. That is going to be INSANE!

My car is so slow now.

At least 100 bhp gains for those cars!

In fact take a look here on what a tunner called SKN already offers for X6 50i

http://www.skn-tuning.de/product.aspx?prod...&TabID=3331

With such gains only by chip, add a less restrictive exhaust and you gain another 40 or so bhp. On an M that's 700 bhp with less than 5 K

PS: I'm so tempted by the SKN offer. But then again i'm so tempted to offer my X6 as buyback for an M !!! Decisions....decisions...

So is the boost pressure......"With maximum boost pressure of 1.5 bar (21 psi), the use of twin-scroll twin turbo technology and the CCM exhaust manifold allows complete exploitation of the benefits of turbocharging......." how high would it get with a 100hp & torque increase.

GTS no match for X6 M and X5 M. Neither the normal Turbo. Turbo S maybe but i'm putting my money on the bimmers.
The Turbo S has about the same HP and quite a bit more torque than the X5M/X6M (the Turbo S has 550 hp and 553lb/ft of torque). It's also a bigger engine and one that is easily capable of additional power if needed. For example, TechArt easily takes it up to 680 hp and 686 lb/ft of torque and Gemballa took the standard Turbo engine up to 750bhp and 827 lb/ft so the S motor should easily exceed that.

The X5M/X6M comparison here is with the Turbo/Turbo S, not the GTS. Sure, the Porsche vehicles cost more, but they're higher end than the BMW so you can't simply price compare.

my my... good job BMW ///M division.

An SUV with an AUTOMATIC gearbox and a FORCED induction engine...

Is it just me or are AMG and M swapping places?
talk about NA engines and hardcore versions (black series, DTMs etc...)

It will surely be quick but will be no match for the Cayenne Turbo S (which does 0-100miles in 10seconds flat)
