Don't be so negative about 545i, hythe :

a) you have a 545i that is faster than the M5 .
b) on bends/mountain road my 545i is faster than yours (and you know why - signature)
I don't think Herr Bovensiepen would take too kindly to you calling my car a 545i! Besides, who ever raised the question of tight corners? I AM interested in an LSD, potentially, though - although the purist in me might lead me towards the Alpina item, assuming performance is equivalent.

It is the same engine with new piston and some optimization and then supercharged .
So you have a tuned 545i for a 65-70% .

Besides, who ever raised the question of tight corners?

Equivalent ?
No way : from the half of the bend you can accelerate, while with the open diff you have to wait the end of it .

Finally, dear ipp, in the everyday use my 545i is already faster than the M3, so keep your irony for your 530d!
Well, if everyday driving is the case, the 535d would be the fastest of them all...

Another thing I don't understand is; if the 545i and 335i is so close to each other (335i is a tad faster), how come that the 545i would be able to beat the new M3. Nonsense. And it has nothing to do with irony or my 530d...

Not so much .. A 545i/550i is close to 500 Nm of torque . The stock 535d is at 560 Nm .

Remap the 335i (lighter than the M3 ?) and get a custom catback exhaust with headers + catalyst and come back to tell that the 335i is slower than the M3 .
At the same way, get a steptronic 550i, map, exhaust and it will smoke the M3 .

The problem of the M3 is the weight, very close to E60 V8 one .

And the problem of the manual transmission M3 are the gears, exactly like the MT/SMG 545i/550i : gears lenght affect performance!

Correct me if I'm wrong, it doesn't affect over-all performance, only between certain speeds.

Dear Sirs,

The new M3 will soon be available with the M DCT gearbox.
Is it faster on the track than with the manual?

But anyway, is it not only theoretical discussions you have?

What about the new coming small "Dino" Ferrari or even the "Finnish" Porsche Cayman?

There will always be someone who's faster than you!

Why would a picture of you hurt your feelings? Facts are facts and you need to learn to relax young man. Granted daddy owns the 545 youve been talking about but still be nice. Go on a Mini Cooper forum if you want to be rude
