Come on BMW let's not get soft now. We are cutting edge now, let's keep it that way and not dumb down to the rest of the world. This looks like it blends in with the rest of the world and does not stand out like current models. I do not like this direction

Couldn?t have said it better, this looks like BMW's playing it safe ...Id say this is a very gs430ish type of thing to do. I love the fact that a 5 and 7 series is unlike anything on the road. Lastly as pretentious as it may sound, I?m not paying another 70k to blend in with the crowd, if I wanted that, Id have stayed in my 05 RL or have purchased a new maxima "oops" I mean gs430.

Please don't insult the Aston Martin by comparing it to the botched new 7- series rear end.......

Wrong Aston...

Could be worse - the rear end could look like the new 3-series!

I actually quite like this design (rear tailights aside) - looks somehow more purposeful then the current model, with a definite nod to the E60 at the front. The trunk area also seems better integrated into the whole design compared to the current 7 and even 5 series.

More conservative? Debatable - but if so, that actually bodes well for the new X5 - recent troubling spyshots suggest that could end up looking more like a bulkier X3, which would be absolutely tragic.

My exact initial thought.

It's not bad.
