I'm asking on behalf of a buddy of mine who is soon to be relocating from Europe to Cleveland, Ohio. He's ideally wants a hard-top 3er coupe but is also wary of the amounts of snow and ice he may encounter in winter, and was therefore thinking of the 4wd in the X3 or X5.

I've told him that he could get an x-drive 3er to meet his 4wd requirement, but want to reach out to you guys Stateside to confirm a couple of things:

1. What engines are available in the 2008 3er?
2. What 3er models are available for sure with x-drive?
3. Is the x-drive available in the coupes as well as the saloons?
4. Can someone explain a little more about European Delivery?
5. Does anyone here have first-hand experience of any dealers in the Cleveland area that they can share?

There are only two engines (both petrol) available here in the U.S.: the 328i (3.0 Liter, DOHC, inline 6-Cylinder 230-HP) and 335i (3.0 Liter, twin turbo, 6-cylinder engine 300-HP.). Both models are available as a sedan, coupe, or sports wagon, and each is available with all-wheel drive. Both models also come as a convertible (x-drive not available).

Sorry but I don't know much about EU delivery or Cleveland dealers.

Thanks for that tachyon! All info is helpful, and I managed to find a post in the FAQs about ED.

Europe to Cleveland, Ohio. Thats going to be rough. Cleveland is nasty. I use to live in Cincinnati; I thought that was bad until I went up to Cleveland.

Anyways, go with the 335i. Coupe version, sedan is Ugly.

I live in Cleveland and reccommend Jeff Allen at BMW Cleveland/Solon. Give him a call and he will help out, tell him Christopher Pringle referred you.

As for the weather.... I am used to it but AWD is nice to have. But I dont mind not having it!

European Delivery is a program where you order your car here and then you go to Europe to pick it up. It is actually cheaper than the regular purchase since the ED price is 7% less than the MSRP price and also, the ED invoice price is lower. So basically, on a 3-series car, you save somewhere around 3k, plus you're getting a Lufthansa flight deal: 2 for 1. The only downside is the wait time to get your car back, probably about 5-6 weeks for a midwest delivery.

go to my site and you can read through tons of articles : www.edBMW.com and www.edBMW.com/blog

I also have a photo gallery with people that have done EDs.

or if you don't feel like reading, and you have more questions, feel free to post them here
