I have no idea either...
When my wife gets pregnat she'll get a porsche turbo... I've seen at a E39 M5/Porsche meet where a wife and husband came in a turbo with 2 baby seats in the back... It gave me something to look forward to.

here in europe, alteast in austria, we are experiencing a suv hype. we had a mini-van hype couple of years ago, but now that most of the suv have 7 seats, the tend is moving. obviously everything is dominated by diesel engines. I mean, there is something practical to it, if you have kids. And, if you are filthy rich (and most europeans aren't), the ultimate "baby" car is the porsche cayenne

Our local importer had a nice meeting about a month ago when we had an opportunity to drive Z4 Coupe, 750, X3, 335i, E60 models and also X5 3.0d and 4.8i. A pretty sporty afternoon driving hairy landscape lanes changing cars one by one. Anyway, speaking about X5, I found 3.0d model quite lame. My own 530 xd runs much sportier and feels significantly more powerful than X5 with similar engine. Also, feel to drive wasn't impressive with 3.0d model: good and nothing to complain, but still behind E60 IMO. Controls and comfortability inside was quite equal. All X5 models were fitted with Sport Package by the way.
X5 4.8i was a on the other hand more aggressive and clearly THE model to choose if SUV is under consideration. Performance was impressive and you got much stiffer and accurate feel to drive the car. Also the sound was nice! I still don't think X5 superior to E60...to pay about 40% more when comparing 530 xd and 4.8i cannot justified. If you really need SUV, ok, otherwise E60 is better choice.
Enclosed please find only two photos from test drives. We completed some off-roads also without problems.

It does look nice. I especially like what they did with the front end...those headlights look sporty.
The one thing that bugs me about the X5, however, is the black fender guards or whatever they're called. It looks like cheap plastic which continues onto the front bumper and surrounds the two side air inlets.
I would like one with the entire fender to match the body color.
