Hey everyone,

My mother recently purchased a convertible 135i black on black. I'm pretty sure it was loaded, because there wasn't a single thing I didn't see.

Anyway, onto the car. This thing is nice. I just got the five, and after driving that thing I already want a new BMW. The handling is amazing. It's so direct and the car feels so nimble and light, like it's eager to devour any curves you may want to throw at it. It really isn't comparable to the five, they're just completely different cars. This is the first time I've had an opportunity to drive a car with one of the twin turbo motors and it's really unbelievable. The car just always had power on tap and MOVES. I did a few pulls from around 50-95 and even at those speeds it still just wanted to take off. I had the top down on a beautiful day here on the south shore of Long Island and I felt all was at peace in the world, sun shining, wind blowing, and turbos spooling. The exhaust note was also something to marvel at. It sounds like a more vicious g35. The quality of the interior also showed. BMW definitely isn't holding anything back these days. The trim and finish was top shape. I was astonished with the new iDrive as well. The HD display is crystal clear and the menu's are so much more easily navigable than in my car. The back seats were completely useless as far as people carrying goes. Yeah, a small child will fit back there, along with MAYBE a happy meal, but not much else. Absolutely loved driving it, I can't wait until I visit and get to take it for a spin again.

It really got me thinking, did I buy the wrong car? Looks like I might have to take a few three's for a drive and see about maybe switching it up even though I did just get the five.

Anyone else driven one of these? Got any comments? Let me know what you guys think.

-Ron

Obviously this is my own opinion, and I am sure there are people that share or disagree with it.

As much as the 1 series drive and handle like a monster, I simply can't see it being a guy's car. It's too cutesy to me; the rear is quite fug as well. Quite honestly, seeing it on the road driven by a guy just looks funny to me. To me, little roadsters are meant to be driven by chicks (Audi TT, Miatas comes to mind).

in germany it's quite common that guys drive a convertible..BUT: IMHO I'm with you, guys shouldn't drive a conv. such as 1 series or TT or Z4...make it big and drive a 3 or 6 series convertible
