I am buying a 2001 M3 Convertible tomorrow for my summer driver. Does anyone have any tips on what I should look for or check out? All help is greatly appreciated.

Hey!!!!!

I own a 2002 ///M3 Convertible and you are not going to regret it!!! What you always can do (what I did), is (when you're not buying from a original BMW garage) is taking the car to a original BMW garage for a check up!!

Welcome to the ///M club!!!

Congrats!!!

Post some pictures please...

I ended up purchasing a 2001 Phoenix Yellow M3 Convertible with 46000 miles. I really like the car, but was surprised with the significant cowl shake and overall harshness on rough road surfaces. I drove another M3 Convertible with a few less miles and it did not appear much better. Were these both bad cars or is this typical? Also, Do you notice much difference by initiating 'Sport' mode? Thanks in advance!

I will post pictures soon, it snowed today so my car is staying in the garage.

I never drove a cab so i cant comment on the shake....but the sport button makes a difference in that it sharpens the throttle response. The first inch of travel in the pedal will feel like it is at 2 inches.
Also make sure all the recall work has been carried out, big end bearings were a definate recall but i'm not sure if there were any more in the US

ENJOY

Thanks for the information. I am going to take it to my local BMW dealership and have them give it a once over. Cheers!
