I have been researching these M3's a lot and I found that Sub-Frame Damage and VANOS failure seems to be very common...... I could get a 335i for less money....

I also looked at 335i's. I just didn't get the same feeling driving it. Do your research on the car, inspections, service history. Look for M3's with extended warranties, which will ease the mind. Sometimes it is the luck of the draw, I had a full auto transmission replacement in my E60. $7k plus repair, luckily under warranty.

Go test drive cars one weekend, narrow down your search. Then find the perfect car.

My sister has a 08 M3 sedan with DCT, the shifts are lightening fast and very smooth. The SMG has a more slam/jerk feeling when changing gear, more racecar like feeling. She drove my car the other week and said my car feels more like a sports car than hers.

I guess it's going to take a while until I find the right one. I am just really worried about the VANOS and subframe...

So I asked for a trade-in appraisal from the dealer and the offered me 25k! I was very surprised, I thought they where going to give me 18k or something

Now I can't decide between 335i coupe/E46 M3....
