my review

the car is quick and responsive. if engine mods were put in it, it could run with the new m3

Actually, the German magazine auto, motor und sport did exactly that. They raced a 135i, 335i and a M3. In fast corners and on the straights they could get "rid" of the 135i, but the 3-series better handling at least made it stay behind that car. But the M3... as soon as they got in to some more "difficult" bends it sailed away leaving two small spots in the mirror...

ill agree with that. modded 135 against a stock M3..

id still probably pick the M3 over the 1er though. just my opinion.

I know. But my point is that it's not about the amount of power in the engine, but how it handles.

jk just playing you man, the m3 is an awesome car but its too pricey right now with the dealer markups

Well, it'll be interesting if BMW releases a lighter version, 135tii with some improvements in suspension etc. That said, M3 is a monster and make no mistake about that.
