New Member from Montreal - 535xi Touring in Space Gray Metallic - Some Touring Stats
Hi all,
I've been shopping for a 2010 touring since April, and I just received my 2010 535xi Touring last week in Space Gray Metallic, off lease, stock condition with just under 50,000 miles. I test drove one a few months ago when I started thinking of upgrading from my 2006 Outback, and with 500km under my belt now I can say that I absolutely love the car and the way it drives.
I spent quite a bit of time on the forums while I was shopping - learning about options, maintenance issues, potential problems and pitfalls. I appreciate all the good information I picked up here, so I though I would share a bit of information that I gathered during the shopping process. I kept a simple spreadsheet where I tracked every car I found on various websites - cars.com, autotrader, etc. and recorded the asking price, mileage and major options. Since I was shopping for a 2010 - I recorded just about every 2010 car I found anywhere in the US and Canada. I tracked about half the 2007, 2008 and 2009 cars that I found - just to generate a decent depreciation curve, and added a few older cars to extend the curves into lower model years and higher mileage.
For those of you looking for a manual transmission car - I only found 4 out of 86 MY2010 cars with standards:
Here's a graph of the asking price by model year - which gives a depreciation curve.
Another graph - price by mileage for all years that I found:
And for only the 2010 cars:
My significant other would only approve the space gray, silver or blue cars (no black or white) which limited my options quite a bit. Here's the stats on colors:
Anyway - hope you find that interesting. I'm looking forward to counting on the forum interaction to keep my car in top shape. And if anyone is interesting in picking up my 2006 Outback with 130,000 km - feel free to get in touch....
