Thanks for everyones welcome.
HONDIK - The car is new, but not sure what CPO is?
RSYED - Thanks for your tip on the air filter. The front rattle though does seem very "local" to the passenger side dashboard. ie like it from the air vent/cub holder/wooden trim. Tried everything though including the good old WD40, all have failed

My 5er seems to rattle in exactly the same place, i.e. the left-hand-side "inside"(?) of the car, which in my case is the drivers side. I normally just turn up the Logic7 when I am on my own, but can't do that when I'm on the phone or have passengers on board -- and that's when I hear the rattle.
I have read about this in other posts here and it only seems to be on LCI cars
On the one side I would like to have it fixed, but on the other side I just don't see it happening and its probably easier just to ignore it rather than search for it. (I do over 1000km per week, so don't need to drive myself crazy searching for noises that won't go away!!) I will mention it to my dealer when I have my winter-wheels fitted later in the year and see if they find a solution... yeah right!

Try this : Open the glovebox and look at the lock mechanism. You will see that there is metal on metal here and is a source of rattle. Use some insulating tape and just stick it around the opening of the lock in the roof of the glovebox. it wil make the box tighter to close but will get rid of some of the rattles.
My dash actually creaks when I accelerate forward on 1st gear, It sounds like the center of the dash is bending while the car starts moving forward.
