Hi all just wanted to say hello to everyone. I just got a new 08 550I Platinum gray metallic.

Not to bash such a fine machine but I am a bit disappointed in the quality of the car for paying this much money. I was wondering if anyone has noticed the same in their cars. The sport seat leather is not treated when you pull the side bolster to hug your body, if you look at the leather that comes out of under the plastic shielding is not treated. It looks aweful.

I am not sure if its only in my car or that has been left untreated in all cars with sports seats.

Otherwise, I am enjoying the ride very much and hope to chat with you folks now and then!!!!!

Congrats on the new ride and welcome on board!

I am really into the platinum gray m-sport combo at the moment. Seen it on narvious' E61, but not seen it on any E60s here in the forum. I find its a great blend between classy/executive and sports.

As for the "quality", I am not quite sure which seats you are referring to. By the sounds of it, you are referring to the Comfort Seats. And I believe these come as standard with the US 550i Sport. There are a number of members here with those seats who will no doubt be able to give you some feedback...

Enjoy -- especially when the drive-in period is over...!!

Thank you. I really like this color. This was my first choice.

Yes, these are comfort seats. I hope someone can tell me if they have the same problem with the leather treatment.

Well. I am already enjoying it and indeed its very fine machine, since I was lucky to find a slightly used one with 6000 miles on it. So the break in period is long done

What do you mean exactly when you say "not treated?" I'll look at my car in a bit but am wondering what I'm supposed to be looking for...

That's the color I picked for the new bimmer. I wanted that one originally but got it in space grey. I should have the new car in a week or two. Congrats on the car it looks great.

If you don't want your car, I'll take it off your hands. Kidding. Welcome aboard. Get ready for the mod bug to bite. Get that wallet out and ready!

Not treated as in not conditioned with shiny leather stuff? If thats the case goto pep boys and buy a bottle of leather conditioner... and if thats your only complaint I would hardly qualify that as being disappointed. You should be so lucky to only have that complaint.

or not treated as in its not leather?

Thank you all for the warm welcome!!!

Rudy, if you just move the back plastic cover or lift it up from either the passenger or the driver side you would see the difference in color I am talking about. When you move the side bolsters up it shows up too. As EBMC503 mentioned may be its not polished but it looks awkward.
