Recent newbie enthusiast to BMW here, trying to make sense of all the jargon, numbers, and much information. Really great to read the e60 info here.


I'll try keep it short - always heard of the rep of BMW and high end cars, and why they have a perceived higher cost of ownership and just kind of went along with agreeing with folks about staying away... After driving one, immediately wondered why this car was so amazing that no one bothered to explain that feel of freedom and nimbleness, the ****ing fun of it. I always thought it was just the status frankly.


I can ' feel' that extension of myself going over the road through the steering wheel, and how the weight was aiming through instead of lumbering around corners. I can't get enough. I finally got iti, and it is sometimes expensive but goddamn there is nothing that drives like that, for me its worth it. So here I am, trying to chase the feeling some more. The bmw wagons are amazing to drive, and hopefully I'll be able to continue that...although I just heard they aren't continuing to sell the min the US past next year...


The one I picked up a couple months ago is a Silver 2006 BMW 530xi Sport Wagon that I hope will continue to drive well, and whose inline 6 will make it another year or so. I am looking to see what's what with my finances and try to get a newer wagon, since this one is already up to 129,0000 or so.... I heard 2019 is the last year bmw will sell the wagons in the US. I have been educating myself on the car, the engine and trying to get ahead of any problems. The carfax for the vehicle is the MOST maintenance and work I've ever seen before on a car I was buying...I'm hoping this a good thing. Most other cars I've bought used only had a handful of Carfax entries... I'm hoping that the electrical and other problems I've read about in the e60s were worked out. The first car I was able to drive was my mom's wagon in High School, a 1986 faux wood paneling Dodge Aries K Station Wagon, absolutely nothing like this 5 series wagon.
