I have a 2005 530i sport package, SMG, active steering BMW. I went to the dealer today to have a service visit on my brakes. My brake pedal is stuck after the car sits over night. After a few hard pushes, the car will start and the pedal will release to the floor. When I arrived, I also mentioned casually that my third, yes third set of runflats was noisy just like the others after 5000 miles.

To my dismay, they called back and said I had two bent wheels. Since I had over 20000 miles (23000), BMW wasn't going to step into replace them, but because I'd only had them 5000 miles on the last set, if I bought two new wheels and an alignment, they would go ahead and cover four new tires. I know these wheels were true 5000 miles ago because I had to have three of them refinished when they scratched them getting the new tires on.

Has anyone bent their wheels? Did you know that an alignment is US$350. Does this sound like a raw deal or do you think BMW is being nice to offer the four new tires. Just curious...

Looks like I am out $378 each on the wheels and $350 for an alignment. BMW will pay for four new tires.

For some reason, I think your BMW dealer is playing game with you.
It's either YES, it's under warranty, or NO, it's not under warranty.

If the damage of the wheels are from cheap design of BMW, it should be replace free under warrany, same as the tires.

I think I'd tell him to wait until YOU talk to BMWNA customer service about this....he might change his tune. But in any event, I'd get him to go for PS2s, not another set of troublesome runflats. Oh, and $350 sounds steep for even a 4-wheel alignment. Get your refinisher to check the wheels again. In sum, do your homework before going back to him with a second request.

Good luck

I bent 3 rims after 7000 miles and it was not covered. I told them to go screw and had the wheels straightened and replaced the tires with non-RFTs myself.

When I brought my car in for it's second set of runflats my dealer informed me that my R/F wheel could not be balanced because it was slightly bent. I had bought wheel insurance at time of delivery so the wheel was replaced free of charge, lucky me. That was 6,000 miles ago, I'm now on my 3rd set of RF tires, I'm ok with BMW replacing these tires, but it is a pain. I cannot understand why BMW stays with RF tires?
