Just a few more pics. Shadowline and Mirrors did a lot to update the exterior of the car!

This was lurking in the basement of my body shop today. I tried to take it out for a spin but they wouldn't let me......

Choosing the right rotors and pads can be a bit of a challenge given that there are a wide range of choices out there. I decided on R1 Concepts Cross-Drilled/Slotted Performance Rotors with Hawk Performance pads from Micheal over at Acute Performance. What a difference they made! Here's a link with more information if needed and a few pics I took this afternoon of my ride.

This one was sitting around for a while so with it raining outside today and everyone in the house sleeping, I decided to change the shifter and handbrake boots to the leather ones with "M" stitching. I'm pretty happy with the way it came out.

One more guilty pleasure and then I'll be back to some real mods, I promise. The "M" Pedals. I just couldn't resist.

Thanks leese8080,
Skills can be learned over time and most of the mods are not that difficult and only require patience and knowledge. As you well know, these forums provide a world of knowledge. You have a nice list of modifications yourself. Looks like you've got the mod fever too...Haha. I'm waiting on my RPI GT exhaust as we speak and have a major performance mod in the works regarding intake manifold replacement and ECU re-map and tune. I'll post once done.

Cheers!

Its mod time again! This one is big! I made a jump from my stock 525i @ 210 hp @ 185 ft-Lbs torque to 250hp @ 220ft-Lbs torque. An increase of 40hp and almost 35ft-Lbs torque. I was able to do this for less than $1,500.00 and it did not include any type of supercharger or turbo.

This one was by no means an easy mod and was one I had researched for almost a year prior to execution. As far as I knew, only one other 525i owner had done this prior and to the best of my knowledge this is the first documentation based on an E60 from concept, through mechanical and ECU changes to Dynojet results.

What I was able to accomplish was to complete the conversion and installation of a three-stage intake manifold from the E60 530i in exchange for the One-Stage manifold found in my E60 525i. This modification allowed the 525 with the N520B30 3.0L engine to achieve in theory 50hp/40tq gains with a projected increase in power to approximately 265hp and 225 lbft tq. The main differences between the 530i and the 525i are Intake Manifold, Exhaust Resonator, Exhaust Muffler and ECU software. The 525i has provisions for this three-stage manifold but does not take advantage of this hardware at all. To quote one of our members with whom I discussed this topic last year (Thanks Diamond)...

The 3 stage manifold allows the tune to be much more aggressive at the top end-for peak power which is why it makes more peak HP and higher rpms, but still maintains decent power and drive-ability in the low-mid range due to the flexibility of utilizing 3 different intake pathways. If you only have 1 pathway as does the 525/528 then you have to compromise the tune to work at all rpms with that 1 intake pathway. The end result is you cant tune for as much top end power or else you will suffer a big loss down low.. So its a compromise to keep low-mid end acceptable and then put a decent amount of top end power. So its not the 3 stage intake manifold that creates power-but its what that lets you do with the tuning software that creates the power--worthwhile mod for sure
For a lot more detail and member comments read my thread here: If anyone is interested in doing this mod please feel free to send me a PM so that I may point you in the right direction.
