Yep, one of Michael Mina's first restaurants. The famous Lobster Pot Pie...total rip off. Hahahahaha!
Actually, if you want better than Aqua, go to his restuarant in the Westin St. Francis called....Michael Mina. It opened a few years ago, but more importantly, received 2 Michelin Stars and is definitely one of the top restaurants in the city of SF.
I would also recommend the Dining Room. Chef Ron Siegel is the head chef and he, unlike all these other famous top chefs, actually works in his kitchen and cooks you your food. I met Ron Siegel on my second anniversary, when he was the Chef at Masa's in SF. Masa's uses to be the best restaurant in SF until one of the dishwashers one night came up behind the head chef (Masa), slit his throat and killed him. The restaurant took a downward spiral and only recovered when Ron Siegel came over as the head chef. All the old clients from the Masa days returned.
As for Ron Siegel, he's probably best known for appearing on the REAL Iron Chef show in Japan. He was the first US Chef to not only appear on the show in Japan, but he also won. He faced Iron Chef Sakai and it was a Lobster Battle. It was sick. Even the former Mayor of SF, Willy Brown, was interviewed on that show. Hahahahaha! When I ate at Masa's, I asked the Captain of my table if Ron Siegel could come out to our table. Sure enough, he did. What was my first question? "What was Kitchen Stadium like?". LOL!
My wife kicked me under the table. It was classic. Keep in mind that Iron Chef America was not even a show yet, nor a thought. It was still the real Iron Chef that was airing.So with that, try Michael Mina or the Dining Room.
