It's just a shame it's so far away. Most of us that are serious drivers would love to come. This is just too long of a day to commit to. You should really organize a Meet that's closer to the city for "serious drivers". That is the main reason most of the old timers that are good drivers, can't make your Meets. They're just too far away.

The exit off of I-78 where the road begins is about 2 hours drive from NYC -- 120 miles. Once off I-78, Route 125 starts about 10 miles later and goes for 32 miles. Rickie and I met up in NJ at 930 and left about 10 am. I was back in NYC by about 6:30 pm. We stopped for lunch at Skeeter's BBQ, an amazing BBQ place that sits on a hill overlooking the Susquehenna River. This will be the lunch place-turnaround point for the meet. We were at Skeeter's by about 1 pm.
I don't expect 60 cars to come. That's fine with me. This will be a real serious driver's meet. I wouldn't want 60 cars on those mountain hairpins as they are very dangerous and challenging. It is really easy, if not very careful, to lose control. This road tests drivers like no other I have ever experienced within an easy driving distance from NYC. And it is so isolated that traffic was ultra light and there was not one police car.
Do you know who was on the road? Sport bike riders with Go Pro cameras on their helmets.
If the pics are my word are not enough as to how good SR 125 is, here are the reviews of the road on the net: http://www.motorcycleroads.us/roads/pa125.html and http://www.motorcycleroads.com/routes/Nort...t/PA/PA_7.shtml
Let the good times roll!

These twisties are much longer, much more isolated and have much less traffic and LE. But the price of admission is a 2 hour drive from NYC to get to them. It's one that I am willing to pay for the ride but I understand if the drive to get to them and back does not fit within everyone's schedule.

You should call your Meets, "For Newbies only". Hahahaha!
Have a great time. I guess I'll have to organize an Old Timers Meet in Bear Mtn for that same weekend.

Yes I wish I could move it closer to NYC. But the road is where the road is. There are slim pickings for great twisty roads within one hour's drive from NYC and your Bear Mountain meets really do capture the best twisties within that driving distance.
