Well, if you bring your friend you're going to end up only talking to your friend and ignoring us. If you come by yourself, you're forced to talk to us and get to know everyone. j/k

Your friend is more than welcome.

I'll be in SF from the 30th to the 2nd. Any good eats you guys could recommend?
I know a ton of great places to eat in the city. What kind of cuisine?

Anything. I'm more of a "hole in the wall" and "only can get in this city" type of guy. Things like CCH interest me, as well as good but moderately priced sushi (I'm not baller status like you spending $500 on tiger penis).

LOL!

1. Thanh Long - World's most famous Roast Crab and Garlic Noodles. The recipe is so secretive, only family members know about it. They serve the crab through a tiny opening in a special side kitchen, where again, only family members are allowed. The main kitchen is where they cook all the rest of the food. People have tried to copy their crab and garlic noodle recipe for years. Google it. It's hilarious, but it's that insane.

2. Tekka - This place seats 8 people and is an absolute hole in the wall. It's a husband and wife place. No reservations, no menu's. He does the fish, she does the kitchen food. I am VERY close to the owners. It's where I proposed to my wife. If you want authentic japanese with home style cooked hot food too, go here. The owner's names are Noboru and Yoshimi. If you tell them you know me, they will treat you like god. I kid you not! And make sure you look at my plack on the wall behind the bar. When you leave SF, you get to write a little blurb about your experience. If you are local, you don't get this until you move away. Since we were like family to them, we got a huge plack!

3. Chez Nous on Fillmore Street. It's all small plates, kind of like Tapa's and unbelievable! One of my favorite places. The staff is friendly and the place is hopping. I think they take reservations now.

4. Swan Oyster Bar - 2nd oldest oyster bar in San Francisco. You sit at a bar that's 100 years old (past down from generations) and watch 5 guys in butcher outfits shuck, peel and make up just about antything seafood you can imagine. There are no tables. They have a few beers on tap and the place is unreal. If you like seafood, go here. The wharf is a joke. Stay away.

5. The Cheesesteak Shop on Divisadero and Pine. Feeling hungover? Go here. Place is the bomb and cures a hangover instantly. It's close to Philly, but they don't serve their steaks with Wiz. Cheeze Wiz is the true way of making it, but then again, they may have added that now.

6. Blowfish Sushi in Potrero Hill. Head Chef and owner, Kenichi, is a personal friend. If you go here, make a reservation, ask to sit and the bar in front of him and again, tell him you know me. You'll be treated like a king.

7. Trattoria Contadina - The managers name is Gina. Tell her you know me and again, you'll be treated like a king. They have the best pasta dishes in the city and their sauces are insane. All homeade of course. Prices are great too!

If I think of more, I'll PM you, but that should get you started. And yes, I should be a food critic. I know.

PS - Tekka is on Balboa, between 6th and 7th in the Richmond. It's on the south side of the street. There are no signs or awnings, so walk slow or you'll miss it. Get there early though. People wait outside 30-45 minutes before they arrive, just to get in line and get a seat. They open around 7pm, so be there by around 6:15ish. Or you can do the late sitting, which is around 9:30ish, but that's a toss up. If I were there, I'd go with you and I'd call them at home and tell them I'm coming. They reserve seats for the wife and I when we visit SF.

Thanks fatty! Haha... I definitely have my food itinerary planned out now. Imma be droppin' your name like there's no tomorrow and be expecting the royal treatment.

BTW, have you tried Crustacean in Beverly Hills? That's the best garlic noodles I've ever had. How does it compare Thanh Long?

And do you guys have any suggestions of places to be to hang out and watch fireworks on New Years? I plan to setup my tripod and shoot some pics.

Thanh Long is the original, opened in the 70's. The family then opened Crustacean. They have one in SF and LA. The nice part about Thanh Long is, no dress code like Crustacean. Anyway, Thanh Long is the original and where you will find the family that started all 3 of these restaurants. I should have mentioned that earlier. Anyway, go to the original. It's the best!

I'm going to take notes on those recommendations.

Man... Thanh Long (reasonable price & no dress code) OR Curstacean (expensive & dress code)... You can't go wrong with either one But I like the idea of going with the original one
