Thanks for the quick lesson in Nikkor lenses!

Canon's L Lenses are their professional line. "L" standing for "Luxury". One can identify an L Lens by the red ring around the outer edge of the barrel.
Canon says "these lenses use special optical technologies [such as] Ultra-low Dispersion UD glass, Super Low Dispersion glass, Fluorite elements, and Aspherical elements to truly push the optical envelope."

One last Nikkor lens lesson. Instead of a simple single letter denoting a pro quality lens, they use an alphabet soup in the name. "AF-S DX VR Zoom-NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED" means auto focus - "advanced computer control", cropped format, vibration reduction, zoom Nikkor ... no aperture ring, internal focus, extra low dispersion glass.
